Jamaica Love
This Time, the Lions Are Telling the Story
Jamaica Love is more than a theatre show — it’s a movement.
A sold-out, award-nominated celebration of Jamaican culture, music, and resilience that brings the island’s heartbeat to the UK stage.
Created and directed by Mervyn Weir, Jamaica Love takes audiences on a journey through the rhythms of ska, rocksteady, and reggae — the soundtrack of a nation that changed the world. Featuring the legendary John McLean, Celia Wickham-Anderson (Black Voices), and a powerhouse live band, the show blends unforgettable performances with powerful storytelling and humour that reflects the Jamaican spirit — bold, joyful, and unbreakable.
At its heart, Jamaica Love tells a story rarely heard in full. As Mervyn says, “The lions are telling the story this time.” For too long, others have shaped the narrative of Jamaica and its people. This production changes that — giving voice to the generations whose stories, songs, and struggles continue to inspire the world.
Each performance also features a special pre-show art exhibition by Mervyn Weir, offering a rare glimpse into his striking visual work. His paintings expand the themes of the show — identity, belonging, and pride — connecting art and theatre in one powerful experience.
Following its acclaimed UK tour and multiple sold-out runs, Jamaica Love continues to unite audiences across generations — from those who remember the Windrush years to younger audiences rediscovering their roots.
Presented by Top Ranking Club, Jamaica Love is part of our commitment to celebrating Jamaican excellence and telling our stories our way.
